Job Description: FNMHS Cultural Health Services Specialists are responsible for performing various key functions within the First Nations and Mtis Health portfolio. Reporting to the First Nations and Mtis Health Services (FNMHS) Director, the Cultural Health Systems Specialist is responsible for providing spiritual and cultural support services to clients and families receiving care within the SHA including advocating on behalf of patients and families receiving service within the SHA for safe and competent care. The Specialist will provide support, guidance and traditional teachings to staff and act as an educational resource for all SHA staff seeking to enhance their cultural responsiveness. The FNMHS Cultural Health Systems Specialist is responsible for providing cultural and strategic advice and guidance to the SHA staff, management and stakeholders as well as patients and families throughout the organization in the acute care setting. They will build strong relationships and partnerships with management and front line health care staff. In addition, they will maintain strong relationships with First Nations health and social sector service providers and organizations, as well as other service providers and other First Nations organizations (e.g., Friendship Centres).
