They are looking for a seasoned communications professional with strong judgment, political awareness, and a commitment to public service. The ideal candidate understands strategic communications, public engagement, media relations, and issues management within complex and publicfacing environments. You bring experience advising senior leaders, anticipating and navigating communication risks, translating technical material for diverse audiences, and building trust across organizations. Leadership experience is essential, including the ability to coach and develop a highperforming team.
Typically, the required expertise is gained through a university degree in communications, public relations, journalism, public administration, marketing, or a related field, combined with progressive communications leadership experience, ideally in government. An equivalent mix of education and experience may be considered.
Key knowledge and skills include leading internal and external communications, managing media relations, coordinating public and stakeholder engagement, and overseeing brand consistency across digital, print, and internal channels. Responsibilities include advising ministry leadership on communications strategy and reputational risk, leading responses to highprofile issues, supporting ministry priorities and the Government of Saskatchewan Growth Plan, managing a communications team, and collaborating with staff, other ministries, and external partners to ensure effective and aligned messaging.
