Description

The Waterhen Lake First Nation is seeking a Social Development Coordinator. This role is responsible for overseeing the management and administration of the on reserve Social Assistance Program. This includes ensuring the establishment of policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance of all reporting functions. This role will supervise all general recording and reporting functions and requirements as per ISC.

Responsibilities:
    Review applications, determine eligibility, and maintain confidential client files.
    Conduct client interviews and provide guidance on programs promoting employment and independence.
    Prepare budgets, decision sheets, reports, and monthly data summaries
    Issue client payments.
    Ensure timely payment of shelter costs and other eligible assistance.
    Maintain accurate records and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
    Collaborate with Band Council, Administration, and MLTC on Social Development initiatives.

Qualifications:
    Diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Social Services, or related field; equivalent work experience will also be considered an asset.
    Strong communication, interpersonal, and client service skills.
    Knowledge of Social Assistance programs and eligibility requirements.
    Experience supervising staff and collaborating with Band Administration or Tribal Council.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong organizational, problem-solving, and initiative skills.
    Commitment to confidentiality, professional development, and ethical practice.
    Satisfactory RCMP Vulnerable Sector security clearance.
