Position Summary
This position is responsible for monitoring and controlling process conditions through routine patrols of the Activated Carbon Plant and operation of the control systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Initiate safe start up and shut down of all plant equipment.
- Perform daily boiler chemical tests and adjust chemical feed to boiler feedwater as necessary.
- Transfer chemicals within the water treatment plant.
- Inspect, analyze, troubleshoot, verify, and calibrate plant equipment.
- Monitor process control instrumentation.
- Accurately document activities in a logbook.
- Communicate deviations from routine operations.
- Monitor and respond to plant alarms and fire system.
- Communicate and coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and inspectors.
- Participate in the evaluation of process changes, new processes and equipment, etc.
- Maintain and review systems which impact process safety (procedures, process changes, etc.).
- Adhere to Mandatory Safety Standards and Responsible Care Codes of Practice.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- 3rd or 2nd class power engineering certificate and license.
- Valid Class 5 drivers license.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights.
Schedule
This position currently follows a 28-day shift rotation working 12-hour day and night shifts from 7:00 to 7:00. The shift rotation is: 5 days, 2 off, 2 days, 5 off, 5 nights, 2 off, 2 nights, 5 off.
Location
This position is located at the Plant Operation, located approximately 30 km from the city of Estevan. The successful candidate will be responsible for his/her own accommodations and transportation.
