Position Summary: Working as part of a collaborative team, the cook is responsible for providing food that is nutritionally appropriate for young children, appealing and supports the philosophy of the Centre. The cook oversees all kitchen operations, maintains safe, clean and sanitary facilities and ensures safe food preparation, storage and disposal in accordance with accepted food handling practices.

Qualifications:
Food and Nutrition Management or related training.
Current First-Aid and CPR Certificate;
Current Criminal Record Check.
Food Safe Certification.
Major Responsibilities:
All aspects of purchasing, food preparation and service, including:
Post weekly menu.
Responsible for compiling weekly grocery list.
Responsible for weekly grocery shopping (negotiable).
Maintain sanitary and safe practices in food preparation and service.
Work with caregivers to provide opportunities for children to learn about foods and assist in
food preparation.
Work cooperatively with parents who may require special diets for their children.
Advise regular caregivers about specific food restrictions and alternatives on a daily basis.
Develops and compiles a schedule with a regular sanitization of schedule for ovens, refrigerator and other appliances and areas.
