Description

Healing Steps Family Services is looking for a caring, reliable, and culturally knowledgeable facilitator to lead Roots & Expression, our small-group youth program in Saskatoon for children ages 614.

This is a structured, trauma-informed program that creates a safe and welcoming space where children can connect with culture, express themselves creatively, and build confidence. We are looking for someone who brings strong cultural knowledge, is comfortable leading a group, and can support emotional safety with a calm, steady presence.

What Youll Be Doing:
Sharing cultural teachings through hands-on activities (beading, ribbon work, traditional crafts, and creative projects)
Creating a warm, inclusive space where children feel respected and supported
Leading the group with patience, consistency, and trauma-informed care
Using gentle de-escalation and redirection when children feel overwhelmed or dysregulated
Communicating with our team and helping keep the program organized and prepared

What Were Looking For:
Knowledge of Indigenous worldviews, cultural practices, and traditional arts
Experience working with children or youth is an asset
A trauma-informed approach (you understand that behaviour is communication and safety comes first)
Confidence leading small groups and setting clear, respectful boundaries
Strong communication skills and a calm, supportive presence
De-escalation experience or training is a strong asset

Program Details:
Schedule: Fridays and/or Saturdays
Location: Saskatoon

If this sounds like you, wed love to hear from you. Please send your resume to Human.resources@healingstepsfamilyservices.com
