Description

The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General delivers a fair justice system for Saskatchewan, supports safe communities, and provides legal and policy advice to the government. Its Communications Branch works in a fastpaced environment, raising awareness of programs and services and supporting all divisions with strategic communication needs.

The Branch is seeking a dynamic and creative Director of Communications to lead the development of communication materials and guide the design and delivery of strategies for a wide range of Ministry initiatives. The role involves working independently and as a leader, mentoring a team that supports multiple program areas.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director provides strategic advice to senior officials, supports proactive issues management, and strengthens stakeholder relations. The position oversees communication planning, integrates complex and sensitive information into clear materials, manages advertising and media relations, and leads a team in developing and evaluating communication strategies. It also includes managing the Ministrys annual communications plan to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing complex information, exercising sound judgment, and leading with integrity. Knowledge of strategic communications, media relations, and issues management is essential, supported by a degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field, along with extensive experience in strategic communications. The Ministry offers meaningful work, competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, advancement opportunities, flexible work options, and an inclusive environment.
