The Ministry of Social Services supports positive outcomes for individuals and families through income support, child and family services, disability services, and housing programs. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as Child Protection Assistant Supervisors, committed to improving the safety and wellbeing of children and families. In this role, you will supervise and guide staff in delivering protective, preventative, and supportive services using the Family Centered Case Management and PRIDE Models of Practice. You will coach and mentor team members, provide leadership that empowers and supports staff, and assist with decisions regarding placements and caregiver support. You will also help coordinate services across programs and partner agencies, act as a liaison with First Nations Child and Family Services and community organizations, and may represent the Ministry on committees.
The ideal candidate works collaboratively, demonstrates strong knowledge of child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and relevant policies and practices, and brings experience in social work theories along with proven coaching and supervisory skills. Cultural competence, particularly regarding First Nations and Mtis communities, is essential. A Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university is required, along with several years of experience in Child Protection or Childrens Services and supervising professional staff.
