The Ministry of Social Services, Child and Family Programs division, is seeking a Child Protection Case Assistant for a term position in the Melfort office. In this role, you will provide essential operational support to a child protection unit under the direction of a Child and Family Programs Supervisor. Your responsibilities include exploring placement options for children, arranging and supervising family visits, transporting children to and from placements, coordinating case conferences, making referrals for family supports, and reviewing case files to provide background information that supports established plans for children and families. You may also accompany case workers during protection investigations, observe and document interviews, assist in assessing risks to child safety, and make recommendations that help ensure a childs wellbeing.
Success in this role requires the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, caregivers, and partner agencies. You must have knowledge of the indicators and effects of child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence, as well as an understanding of multicultural beliefs and values, with particular emphasis on First Nations and Mtis communities. Strong knowledge of humanservices policies and practices is required. These qualifications are typically gained through a diploma or degree in a Human Servicesrelated field along with experience in a human service environment. The position requires the ability to work flexible hours and legal eligibility to operate a vehicle.
