Description

The City of Swift Current is seeking an experienced and collaborative Manager of Financial Services to join our team. Reporting to the CFO, this role leads core financial operations, supports organizational decision-making, and supervises a team of six finance professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and support the Finance team; foster a respectful, accountable environment.

Oversee operating and capital budgets, rolling forecasts, variance analysis, and long-range planning. Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting.

Ensure PSAS/GAAP compliant reporting and lead external audit preparation.  

Maintain internal controls, financial policies, and risk mitigation strategies.

Oversee ERP governance (e.g., Oracle Fusion), chart of accounts, master data, and system improvements.

Provide financial guidance to departments; prepare Council and SLT reports and presentations.

Lead financial process improvements, system upgrades, and cross department projects.

Manage financial records retention and compliance with legislation and policy.



Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or near completion.

5+ years progressive financial experience in FP&A, reporting, and audit coordination.

Municipal or public sector experience preferred (PSAS/PSAB, The Cities Act, LAFOIP).

Supervisory experience in hiring, coaching, and performance management.

Advanced analytical, forecasting, and financial modelling skills.

Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion), Microsoft 365, and BI tools (Power BI).

Excellent communication, relationship building, and leadership skills.  

Ability to navigate complex conversations and provide strategic, context sensitive advice.

Demonstrated capability in process improvement, project leadership, and change management.
