The Saskatchewan Ballistic Lab (SBL) offers an opportunity for a proactive, resultsdriven individual to support firearms testing services that contribute to public safety across Saskatchewan. The ministry is seeking someone who can provide strong office management and administrative support to both the SBL and the Saskatchewan Firearms Office Legal Unit while maintaining professionalism in work involving law enforcement, court partners, and sensitive information.
Key knowledge and skills include proficiency with office management practices, records management, and software applications, along with the ability to create and edit correspondence, forms, and reports. Experience with databases such as LIMS or CJIMS is beneficial, as are financial and accounting competencies. Familiarity with the Criminal Code, the Firearms Act, the Canadian Firearms Program, and related legislation is also valuable. Typically, candidates will have a certificate or diploma in Administrative Office Management, Business Administration, or Office Administration.
Responsibilities may involve managing office operations, developing documents and legal correspondence, processing applications and disclosure packages, tracking cases and expenditures, assisting police and prosecutors, auditing processes, and navigating the Lab Information Management System. Conditions of employment include completing the Canadian Firearms Safety Course, holding a valid PAL or RPAL, obtaining RCMP security clearance, maintaining a valid drivers licence, and performing occasional light to moderate physical tasks.
