The Ministry of Social Services is offering an opportunity to support child protection services as an Assistant Supervisor in Buffalo Narrows, working a drivein/driveout rotation over four weeks with 11hour days, Monday to Saturday. Travel time at the start and end of each rotation may be compensated, and staff housing may be provided. This role supports programs that provide protective, preventative and support services for children, families and caregivers using the Family Centred Case Management Model and the PRIDE Model of Practice.
The ministry seeks a candidate who brings strong leadership, sound judgement and the ability to coach, mentor and guide professional staff. You will work positively with coworkers, caregivers, supervisors and partner agencies while contributing to placement decisions, supporting caregivers and ensuring consistent service delivery across programs. You must have knowledge of child abuse, neglect and domestic violence indicators, social work theories, policy and practice within child and family services, and an understanding of multicultural beliefs, particularly those of First Nations and Metis communities.
Key qualifications include a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university, several years of experience in Child Protection or Childrens Services within Child and Family programs, and experience supervising professional staff. Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, Ministry policies, PRIDE and Family/Childrens Service Manuals is essential. Responsibilities may also involve liaising with First Nations CFS agencies, representing the Ministry on committees and assisting with program coordination.
