The Ministry of Community Safety is offering an opportunity for a Research and Training Officer to support the development and delivery of modern, effective training within the Saskatchewan Marshals Service (SMS). This role provides the chance to shape short and longterm training strategies that strengthen internal and external capacity, improve efficiency, and ensure the SMS meets provincial policing standards and public expectations.
The ministry is seeking a candidate with extensive experience in research, trend analysis, and policerelated training development. You will be a strong leader who brings enthusiasm, expertise and the ability to motivate others, implement change, and influence the evolution of SMS training programs. The ideal candidate is skilled at assessing training needs, building partnerships with police and regulatory agencies, and adapting to shifting priorities while maintaining highquality outcomes.
Key knowledge and skills include familiarity with governance structures and legislation related to public safety and policing, contemporary adult education practices, curriculum and exam development, instructional design, program evaluation and continuous improvement. Strong communication, collaboration, negotiation and relationshipbuilding abilities are essential. You will also require proficiency with software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerDMS and Canva, along with experience managing certifications and training records. Understanding police operations, techniques, training timelines and reporting processes is an asset.
Typically, qualifications include a Bachelors degree in adult education with police college studies or a law enforcement diploma with strong understanding of adult education principles. Police experience is considered an asset.
