Description

The Ministry of Social Services is hiring term Childrens Service Workers in the Nipawin and Melfort areas to support children and families through protective, preventative, and support services. The ministry offers meaningful work that helps ensure the physical, social, cultural, psychological, and educational needs of children are met using family centered practices.

They are seeking individuals who can provide casework and permanency planning for children in care, assess needs, develop and implement case plans, and support placements in foster or alternate care including extended family. Candidates will work closely with First Nation Child and Family Service agencies and community partners, build open and honest relationships, and maintain strong teamwork with clients, caregivers, families, and service providers. The role requires identifying and prioritizing referrals, developing interventions, consulting with professionals, and completing documentation to professional standards.

The ideal candidate values connection, relationships, and community, and brings strong critical thinking skills for risk assessments, sound judgment, and consistent decision making. Knowledge of multicultural perspectives, especially First Nations and Metis, as well as poverty and systemic issues, is essential. Candidates must advocate for clients, promote well being, and remove barriers to supports. A Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, or a Human Service Degree with related experience is required, or a Social Work Certificate with experience. A valid Saskatchewan drivers licence and willingness to travel and work flexible hours is required.
