Description

The Ministry of Justice, through the Office of Tribunal Counsel, provides legal advice and litigation services to twenty four provincial adjudicative tribunals that operate at arms length from government. The Ministry is seeking a lawyer for a one year renewable contract position in Regina beginning April 1, 2026 or as soon as possible. This opportunity offers meaningful work supporting decision making bodies across the province and the potential to expand services to additional tribunals that require legal support.

The Ministry is looking for a lawyer with a strong interest in administrative law and an understanding of how administrative law principles apply to tribunal decision making. The ideal candidate can build strong client relationships, explain legal concepts in practical terms, and adapt to a variety of tribunal mandates. The ability to understand legislation underlying each clients authority, along with their internal policies and processes, is essential. Experience in civil litigation and familiarity with privacy legislation are valuable assets. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director to provide solicitor advice, deliver training when required, and represent clients in litigation matters.

Candidates must have membership or be eligible for membership in the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Strong legal research skills, sound analytical abilities, clear written and oral communication, the capacity to work independently or within a team, strong interpersonal abilities, and comfort with office technology are all required.

The Saskatchewan Public Service promotes a workplace grounded in respect, integrity, excellence, innovation, and teamwork. The Ministry offers work life balance, an inclusive environment, and opportunities for learning and career development.
