The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the dealerships accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This role provides financial leadership, manages all aspects of dealership accounting, supports budgeting and forecasting, and collaborates with leadership to drive sound financial decision-making.
Experience in retail or automotive dealership accounting is an asset.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
CPA designation or working toward designation preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), taxation, and financial reporting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks//Dealer accounting systems).
Automotive dealership experience is an asset but not required.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
General Accounting & Reporting
Cash & Banking Operations
Manage daily cash reconciliation, bank deposits, and cash flow reporting.
Compliance & Controls
Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard dealership assets.
Ensure compliance with relevant Canadian tax regulations (GST/HST, payroll remittances, corporate tax, etc.)
Coordinate with external auditors and support year-end audit processes.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning.
Dealership Processes & Systems
Support accounting system maintenance, enhancements, and best practices.
