Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking individuals to serve as Summer Play Leaders for the Parks & Recreation Department.  Reporting to the Recreation Services Supervisor, the Summer Play Leaders are responsible to:

-    Plan, organize and schedule summer playground or day camp activities based on the Principles of Healthy Childhood Development
-    Prepare daily and weekly activity reports, attendance, damage and accident/incident reports
-    Inspect facilities & equipment to ensure a safe program environment
-    Ensure all participants adhere to the rules of the program and initiate appropriate actions as required
-    Work cooperatively with staff members and maintain open lines of communication with parents, participants, supervisors and partners
-    Address inquiries from parents, participants and the general public, investigate incidents, complaints and problems to ensure proper follow-up actions
-    Respond to first aid and emergency situations as required
-    Lead a safety-focused culture within their area by promoting positive attitudes towards health and safety; Perform other related duties as assigned or required

Qualifications:
-    Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
-    High-Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development
-    Ability to physically and mentally perform duties required in an emergency situation
-    Experience in recreation programming
-    Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public
-    Able to operate specialized application software
-    Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise children and program plan for 5-12 year olds
