GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reporting to the Director (or Site Manager) of Medical Physics, the Physics Technician (Electronics) is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the maintenance programs for radiation oncology related equipment (hereafter referred to as maintenance). This requires performing work related to, but not limited to, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, design, and fabrication of complex electro-mechanical equipment. This position is responsible to ensure maintenance is conducted in a manner that maximizes equipment uptime and safety of patients and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Grade 12
- Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology or Electronics Engineering Technology.
- Technical maintenance courses in High Energy Medical Linear Accelerators, CT Simulators and Orthovoltage treatment units are an asset.
Experience:
- One (1) year previous experience in the maintenance and repair of medical linear accelerators or related equipment.
Skills:
- Ability to design, fabricate, maintain and repair electronic equipment in a timely manner.
- Initiative, independent judgment and follow-through required to solve complex problems.
