Description

The Ministry of Highways offers an opportunity to support a safe, integrated transportation system that contributes to Saskatchewans economic growth. Safety is a core value, and the ministry seeks individuals who will uphold high standards while helping maintain the provincial network of roads, highways, and airports. This position provides meaningful work within the Operation and Maintenance Division, where employees play a direct role in protecting the travelling public.
The ministry is looking for a motivated candidate with a valid Class 1A license who can work in a team-focused, healthy, and inclusive environment. Applicants must be adaptable, approachable, selfmotivated, and able to perform physically and mentally demanding duties in challenging or extreme weather conditions. A current drivers abstract will be required if selected for an interview.
Key knowledge and skills include strong situational awareness and the ability to make critical decisions that support public safety in all weather conditions. Candidates must be capable of operating, servicing, and maintaining heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with attachments, motor graders, and frontend loaders. Operation of advanced hydraulic systems for plow, wing, and sander controls is essential, particularly during winter maintenance. Basic computer skills are required to manage email and submit timecards or expense claims, along with the ability to work flexible hours as operational demands change.
If space allows: Responsibilities include performing summer and winter maintenance, conducting surveillance to ensure roadway safety, maintaining daily logs of inspections, hours, and materials, and contributing positively to a safe work environment.
