A valid drivers licence is required. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, engages resistant individuals, and accurately assesses client needs. Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate with partners are essential.
Key knowledge and skills include understanding addictions, domestic violence, poverty, disabilities, mental health, family dynamics, abuse and neglect, and the contributing factors of criminal behaviour.
Familiarity with theories and intervention strategiesespecially cognitive behavioural approachesand awareness of systemic barriers affecting individuals and communities are required.
Candidates must possess a university degree or a minimum twoyear diploma focused on behavioural change and assessment (e.g., Correctional Studies, Justice Studies, Social Work, Mental Health) or meet established grandfathering criteria. International credentials must be validated against Canadian standards.
If space allows: Duties include preparing court reports, completing risk assessments, developing case plans, supervising clients, and coordinating with community agencies to support offender management in the community.
