Key knowledge and skills include understanding addictions, domestic violence, poverty, disabilities, mental health, family dynamics, abuse and neglect. Candidates must also be able to apply theories of behavioural change, risk assessment approaches, cognitivebehavioural intervention strategies, and awareness of systemic barriers impacting individuals and communities.
To qualify, candidates must have a university degree or a minimum twoyear diploma focused on behavioural change or assessment, including fields such as Correctional Studies, Justice Studies, Social Work, Community and Justice Services, or Mental Health, or meet Community Corrections grandfathering provisions. International credentials must be assessed against Canadian standards.
If space allows: Responsibilities include case planning, supervision, court preparation, and coordinating community supports to promote offender reintegration.
