Walker Farms is a large cattle and grain operation operating a diverse fleet of agricultural and commercial equipment.
This hands-on leadership role is responsible for the repair, maintenance, organization, and lifecycle management of all company vehicles and equipment. The position combines mechanical expertise with procurement, inventory control, supplier coordination, and budgeting.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Equipment Maintenance
Diagnose, repair, and maintain farm and commercial equipment including pickups, semis and trailers (Super B, grain, cattle), feed equipment, combines, tractors, sprayers, seeders, grain handling equipment, heavy equipment, and small tools
Perform preventative maintenance and seasonal inspections
Minimize downtime during seeding, harvest, and feeding
Maintain detailed service records
Fleet Management & Procurement
Assist with buying and selling equipment
Evaluate performance and manage lifecycle planning
Coordinate major repairs and outsourced services
Maintain supplier and dealership relationships
Contribute to budgeting, cost tracking, and capital planning
Shop & Inventory Management
Order and manage inventory (oils, filters, parts, tools, consumables)
Maintain a clean, organized, efficient shop
Track inventory levels and manage budgets responsibly
Safety
Safely operate shop equipment (crane, welders, air systems, etc.)
Ensure safe storage and promote a practical safety culture
Qualifications
Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic preferred; strong experience considered
Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics
Agricultural and heavy truck experience preferred
Welding/fabrication an asset
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
Valid driverss license and reliable transportation
