Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Fleet Operations Manager, this position is responsible for repair and maintenance of all industrial and automotive fleet equipment.
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance of all City fleet equipment including heavy-duty construction equipment, heavy and light trucks, transit buses, fire trucks, turf and small engines.
Performs Highway Traffic Board Safety Inspections and related repairs.
Assists in determining and ordering parts and materials necessary for repair of equipment.
Provides guidance to staff in areas of maintenance and repair.
Assists Fleet Committee with short and long term range planning for repair or replacement of City Fleet equipment.
Follows all O.H.S. Regulations, company safety policies and standard operating procedures.
Completes work orders, time sheets and other reports promptly and accurately.
Must take part in weekend on-call rotation when required.
Must be available for occasional after hours emergency circumstances.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Required - Heavy Duty Journeyperson certification, class 5 driver license
Proficient in the use of OEM diagnostic software including but not limited to Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, etc.
Class 3A license would be an asset
Must possess and maintain R.C.M.P. security clearance.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 7:00 am 3:30 pm (half hour lunch)
Salary: In accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local #342
