Description

Prairie Spirit School Division invites applications for the position of Summer Student Maintenance Worker. This CUPE position starts May 4th, 2026, and ends August 29th, 2026, and reports directly to the Facilities Supervisor, with an expected schedule of (1x 1.0 FTE - 40 hours per week) five 8-hour shifts per week for May and June, and four 10-hour shifts per week for July and August. The salary for this position is $19.80-21.94 per hour depending on experience. The successful candidate will be required to work based out of the School Services Building located in Warman, SK, approximately 25 kilometres from Saskatoon, providing service to schools throughout the division.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will:

Be motivated and reliable
Be looking to gain hands-on experience in facility and grounds maintenance while contributing to the upkeep and appearance of our buildings and outdoor spaces
Perform general maintenance tasks including painting, cleaning, and minor repairs
Assist with lawn care, landscaping, and outdoor upkeep
Operate basic maintenance equipment safely and responsibly
Be willing to be flexible with both the location of work and the type of tasks assigned
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines. A valid driver's licence is required
Have WHMIS training or a willingness to obtain this training.
Prior Maintenance experience will be considered an asset.

In addition, the candidate should:

Be a strong team member and good communicator.
Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Be well-planned and well-organized.
Show evidence of being a life-long learner.
Be flexible and willing to take on new challenges.
Be returning to post-secondary school in the fall.

This position involves outdoor work and will require physical labour. Candidates must be physically capable of performing all assigned tasks. Tools and vehicle are provided.
