Position Summary
The Casual Early Childhood Educator (ECE) is responsible for supporting the daily care, supervision, and programming of children ages 18 months to 6 years. This position provides coverage for staff absences and works collaboratively with the team to ensure a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children.
Key Responsibilities
Child Care & Supervision
Provide attentive care and active supervision at all times
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children
Support childrens emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development
Guide children using positive behaviour support strategies
Programming & Development
Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate, play-based activities
Encourage creativity, exploration, and independence
Observe and document childrens development as required
Maintain inclusive practices that respect diversity and individual needs
Health, Safety & Nutrition
Follow all licensing regulations, centre policies, and health guidelines
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
Assist with meal and snack preparation and service
Adhere to proper food safety and hygiene standards
Safe Food Handling certification and cooking experience are considered assets
Team & Family Communication
Work collaboratively with coworkers and management
Maintain professional and respectful communication with families
Support a positive and cooperative workplace culture
Qualifications
Early Childhood Education certification (Level I preferred; ECE students may be considered)
Valid First Aid & CPR certification
Safe Food Handling certification
Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing daily needs
