Summer Student JobThe Assiniboine Watershed Stewardship Association (AWSA) is seeking the services of a full time term Watershed Technician summer student.
The AWSA is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing water resources within the Assiniboine River Watershed. The AWSA works collaboratively with local municipalities to implement watershed stewardship projects and programs that address water management needs across 25 rural municipalities, 2 cities, 8 towns, and 3 villages.
The ideal candidate will have experience/education in agriculture, resource management, geography, environmental studies, ecology, biology, etc. The candidate must be a leader with a strong work ethic that is dedicated, positive and energetic, with superior communication and organizational skills, and willing to undertake a wide variety of tasks.
The Watershed Technician summer student will support AWSA staff in delivering environmental stewardship projects and programs throughout the watershed. This position offers hands-on, real-world experience in watershed management, agriculture, and environmental monitoring while working as part of a grassroots organization committed to practical water resource solutions.
Comfort and familiarity with talking to agricultural producers, as well as general public speaking and communication skills are critical. Having knowledge and experience in agriculture with familiarity of the Yorkton area is a definite asset. The candidate must possess strong computer skills - Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Adobe, Canva. Experience with ArcGIS PRO is an asset. The candidate is required to possess a valid Saskatchewan Driver's License and be comfortable/experienced navigating in rural locations. A company work truck will be used for all work-related travel.
Details:
- Full-time: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm; some overtime required
- Position will be a balance of field and office work
