John William Head Memorial Education Centre is seeking a passionate and skilled Literacy Instructor to lead and enhance literacy instruction for students in Grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in adolescent literacy, reading assessment and intervention, writing instruction, and inclusive education with effective differentiation strategies. This role focuses on supporting and strengthening the reading and writing skills of MNEA students, ensuring all learners are equipped with the literacy foundations they need to succeed academically and beyond.
All those with a combination of relevant experience and/or education may apply. A Bachelors of Education degree is an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking aligned with the Saskatchewan Curriculum for Grades 712.
Support struggling readers using evidence based interventions.
Use assessment tools to diagnose literacy needs and track progress.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to embed literacy across subject areas.
Integrate Indigenous perspectives and support Truth and Reconciliation commitments in literacy instruction.
Create inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments.
Use digital tools to support reading and writing development.
Assist teachers with reading level assessments and provide refreshers as needed.
Plan and prepare Literacy Night activities and stations for family engagement.
