Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Education provides executive leadership, strategic planning, and oversight of all education programs and services for Zagime Anishinabek. The position is responsible for managing the operations of the Education Department and ensuring programs align with community priorities and lifelong learning principles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to managers and staff delivering education programs that support the goals and aspirations of Zagime Anishinabek.
Advise and update the Executive Director on education services, planning, and emerging issues.
Organize departmental operations and establish procedures to achieve objectives set by senior management.
Direct and support staff responsible for research, reporting, and administration of elementary and secondary education programs.
Contribute to education policy development and provide recommendations to senior leadership and government partners.
Evaluate and monitor programs using Indigenous knowledge and contemporary lifelong learning principles.
Lead committees and working groups to plan, manage, and evaluate education initiatives.
Promote and support Indigenous culture, language, and traditions within educational programming.
Liaise with provincial and federal governments, educational institutions, and partner agencies.
Negotiate tuition agreements and maintain strong relationships with partner institutions.
Monitor financial and program reporting and manage departmental budgets, projects, services, and supplies.
Participate in recruitment, hiring, and training of staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Education and a valid provincial teaching certificate.
Masters degree in an education specialization is an asset.
Minimum three (3) years of education administration experience in Saskatchewan and senior management experience preferred.
