About the Role
As a Site Superintendent at Peters Excavating, you will lead a crew in the safe and efficient completion of road construction and earthworks projects. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong coordination of people, equipment, materials, and production targets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise field crews on road construction and earthworks projects
Coordinate labour, equipment, and materials to maintain productivity and cost control
Operate heavy equipment as required
Interpret engineered drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Work with the Superintendent, Project Manager, consultants, and clients to address site issues and maintain project progress
Verify elevations, grades, and layout using lasers and survey equipment
Conduct and document hazard assessments and safety meetings
Ensure compliance with company policies, OH&S regulations, and safe ground disturbance procedures
Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure projects meet company and client standards
Coordinate material deliveries and equipment servicing
Attend and document site and progress meetings as required
Ensure proper site cleanup and completion of work
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years experience in road construction or earthworks
Experience leading a crew in a foreman or supervisory role
Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance
Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and specifications
Experience with rotating lasers and grade control equipment
Understanding of safe ground disturbance procedures
Valid Class 5 Drivers License
Ability to work extended hours during construction season
