Duties and responsibilities:
At SaskAbilities, we believe in working together to provide innovative programs and services to meet the individual needs of our clients. This position works both independently and within all Program Teams and under the direction of Senior Supervisors. Shifts may include daytime, evenings, or weekends.
Duties include:
- Provide person-centred support to children, youth and adults experiencing disability to assist with meaningful life-enrichment experiences.
- Facilitate engaging activities on site and in the community including providing transportation when required.
- Prioritize the safety, well-being and positive experience for all participants.
- Work as part of a team to ensure the diverse needs of all participants are met.
- Be willing to work varied shifts including evening and weekends.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Disability or Rehabilitation Support Worker Certificate and/or related training and experience
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence, must have access to a reliable vehicle for work/transporting clients
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED, or willingness to obtain within 3 months
- Proficient computer skills and good knowledge of Microsoft suite of programs
Experience:
- One year experience in related field working with children, youth & adults experiencing disabilities
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills for effective communication with clients/support systems/employers
- Good observational, concentration, and insight skills with accurate documentation
- Ability to understand/connect with individualsrecognizing and connecting diverse needs and values
- Ability to assess safety and respond to unpredictable situations with independent decision making
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
