Description

The Ministry of Highways is dedicated to providing an integrated, safe transportation system that supports economic growth and serves Saskatchewan citizens. The Spiritwood Section is seeking a motivated Equipment Operator to help maintain provincial roads, highways, and airports. The ministry offers a safetydriven, teamoriented environment focused on protecting the travelling public through dependable yearround operations.

They are looking for a reliable, adaptable individual who works well in diverse teams and can remain calm and effective in demanding conditions. The ideal candidate is safetyfocused, selfmotivated, flexible with changing work situations, and capable of sound decisionmaking in all weather. Strong situational awareness, the ability to handle stressful environments, and a commitment to positive team contribution are essential.

Key qualifications include a valid Class 1A drivers licence and the ability to provide a current drivers abstract if interviewed. Candidates must be able to perform physical labour, lift heavy objects, and work in extreme weather. Basic computer skills are required to manage email and submit digital records.
Knowledge and skills essential for success include the ability to operate, service, and maintain heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with specialized attachments, motor graders, and loaders. Operators must also manage advanced hydraulic control systems while maintaining full vehicle control during challenging winter conditions. Responsibilities include road surveillance, general maintenance, completing accurate daily logs, and ensuring the safety of the travelling public through effective summer and winter operations.
