The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated Equipment Operator for the Sand and Sulphur Section within the Operation and Maintenance Division. The ministry provides an integrated transportation system that supports economic growth and ensures safe travel for Saskatchewan citizens. This position is part of a team that maintains the provincial network of roads, highways and airports and supports year round operations focused on public safety.

Key qualifications include a valid Class 5 drivers license and the ability to provide a current driver abstract if interviewed. Candidates must be able to use basic computer programs to manage email and submit timecards or expense claims. A willingness to work flexible hours and perform duties in extreme or changing weather is required.
Knowledge and skills needed for this role include operating, servicing and maintaining heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with specialized attachments, motor graders and front end loaders. Operators must be able to use advanced hydraulic control systems to manage plow, wing and sander operations during winter storms. Responsibilities include surveillance and general road maintenance, accurate daily records of inspections, hours and materials, and supporting safe travel for the public through effective summer and winter operations.
