Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill two permanent positions for Labourer in the Water and Wastewater Branch, Department of Operations.

The position will perform the following duties:
-    Operation of Class 3-A vehicles
-    Perform various labouring and Safety Watch duties
-    Operate a City vehicle for the purpose of transporting employees and equipment to work sites, as well to assist on multi-function trucks
-    Operate various small equipment related to City construction and maintenance projects such as sewer cleaning machine, quickie saws, etc.
-    Assist in training of other employees as required
-    Assist with maintenance on regular program areas, which may include but not limited to hydrant maintenance program, valve exercising, etc.
-    Responsible and accountable for knowing, understanding and abiding by City of Moose Jaw Safety Policy, applicable Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation as well as any other appropriate regulatory standards
-    Work in such a way as to not endanger themselves, fellow employees or the general public
-    Observe all traffic rules & regulations when traveling to & from the work site and set out any necessary warning signs
-    Work weekends and shift work as required

The ideal candidate will have:
-    Able to write and pass Level I Wastewater Collection and Level I Water Distribution System exams
-    Physical ability to perform heavy manual labour
-    Able to obtain Class 3-A driver's license, eligible for coverage under the City's insurance policy
-    Ability to obtain certification for: Transportation of Dangerous Goods, WHMIS, First Aid & CPR, Fall Protection, Flagmans, Confined Space, H2S and Safe Trenching & Excavating
-    Ability to work in a harmonious manner with supervisors, co-workers and the general public
