Operations Supervisor

SOUTHLAND Transportation is seeking a dedicated Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic team!

About the Role

The supervisor role is a hands-on position that requires a strong knowledge of transportation and the geographic area; the primary business is school busing. The supervisor is required to oversee the operations of the business.

This is a temporary position with a duration of approximately three months, with the possibility of extension.

Principal duties and responsibilities include:

Provide leadership and direction to key departments
Investigate and initiate change to improve operations systems and procedures
Supervise and oversee personnel, ensuring all routes are covered in the most equitable and efficient manner
Assist with driver performance issues by supervising and supporting the training officer
Set-up and input data for driver payroll
Prepare monthly billing
Host safety meetings
Handle public and driver inquiries, hostile or complimentary, demonstrating empathy, and professionalism
Represent the company at school board meetings
Establish and maintain relationships with current and future clients

Required Qualifications

Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
Exceptional organizational, analytic problem solving and diplomacy skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally while exhibiting confidentiality and diplomacy
Knowledge of WCB and Occupational Health & Safety regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Desired Qualifications

3+ years operations supervisory experience
Familiarity with transportation sector
Knowledge of provincial and federal laws & regulations pertaining to industry requirements
