JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers a Social Development Program
Administers in the development of community resources, capacities and establishes and maintains sound working relationships with other departmental staff, and representatives of other department or agencies
Explain income support criteria and guidelines to applicants and recipients
Work to reduce social assistance dependency and increase employability through training and education
Explain the application process and assist applicants with completing application forms
Verify applicant information including family size and current income
Assessing each application and applicants circumstances to establish needs and identify available resources and possible alternative means of support.
Completing budget and decision sheets to determine eligibility for Income assistance on the basis of identified needs and resources.
Issuing assistance, at rates set out in the Social Development Policy and Procedures Manual, to applicants who meet eligibility requirements contained in the manual and its amendments, and in supplementary directives.
Referral to employable recipients to seek and secure work and supporting and instructing to complete Employment Search Information.
EDUCATION:
Completion of a certificate or diploma in Administration or Business Administration from a recognized business college, or related field is required.
A university bachelor's degree is an asset
3-5 years experience in providing administrative services
Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite: Word; Excel; Outlook (scheduling meetings/managing calendar)
