The water treatment plant operator is responsible for ensuring our community continues to receive safe, high-quality drinking water. Key responsibilities include operating and monitoring green sand filtration systems, overseeing UV disinfection equipment, monitoring raw water conditions and adjusting filtration/disinfection processes, performing routine sampling and water quality testing, maintaining accurate operational logs, conducting preventative maintenance, ordering chemicals and supplies, completing all notices required and providing detailed reports to the Park Board on operations, and working collaboratively with the Park Board to ensure consistent and efficient treatment plant operations.
The candidate will require no previous operating experience. They will receive hands-on training, and work under a certified supervisor for the course of the season. Certification courses may be available should the candidate express enough interest in returning to the position.
The candidate must have:
A Class 5 drivers licence
Mechanical aptitude
The ability to work shifts, weekends and participate in on call duties as needed during peak season
Employment seasonal from May 1 to Sep 30.
Hours estimated at about 4 hours per day, 7 days per week (Job sharing and/or coverage may be available)
Salary range of $25 to $30 per hour.
