Description

The Production Superintendent is responsible for the overall operation of the milling department including yield, labor efficiencies, and supervising the workforce to ensure all safety and business objectives are met.  The role also ensures a safe and healthy work environment within the milling department.
Key Responsibilities
-Model and ensure adherence to health and safety policies, environmental standards and regulatory requirements.  
-Supporting HR issues within their team by following all corporate HR policies & processes
-Ensure outgoing products are graded, handled and stored to maximize efficiencies & achieve Avena QA standards.
-Ensure all key processes are well documented, conform with best practices and are followed by operations staff.
-Understanding and reporting on milling processes, productivity, efficiencies, labour and production costs.
-Ensure physical facilities are clean, efficient and well-maintained.  
-Lead/assist assigned capital investment projects.
-Capture and maintain in Avena systems thorough and accurate information on operations and communications with issues affecting customers.
-Maintain strong customer service by informing customers of shipping timelines, providing updates on order status, and promptly addressing operational or delivery inquiries.
-Working with the GM, support product innovation by conducting product testing in house and with customers.

Preferred Qualifications
-Previous management experience in a food processing or agricultural processing business
-Previous milling experience is an asset
-Experience managing within an Operations/Production Management role, leading a safe workplace, and knowledge in food safety and HACCP
-Ability to meet production demands and multitask to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
-Proven leadership, analytical and decision-making abilities
-Strong communication skills
-Strong computer skills/good mechanical aptitude
-Ability to lift 50lbs.
