Description

Public Prosecutions is offering an opportunity for a motivated and responsible professional who can adapt to change and perform well under pressure. As a Traffic Safety Court Prosecutor, you will prosecute charges under provincial statutes and municipal bylaws, including The Traffic Safety Act, The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act, The Wildlife Act, The Dangerous Goods Act, and The Direct Sellers Act. The ministry seeks someone who can prepare and present arguments before a Traffic Safety Court Justice, question and crossexamine witnesses, and apply knowledge of investigative and charging procedures.

The successful candidate will review files to assess evidence and validity of charges, schedule court appearances, arrange subpoenas and witnesses, and communicate effectively with accused individuals, police, the Highway Traffic Board, and court officials. Strong planning and organizational skills are essential to manage caseloads and meet court deadlines. The role requires weekly travel to Prince Albert and other Traffic Safety Courts in the Saskatoon area, along with a valid Saskatchewan drivers licence.

The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a fastpaced legal environment. They must be comfortable handling courtroom responsibilities, interpreting legislation, and managing interactions with diverse individuals. Clear communication, attention to detail, and the ability to remain composed during challenging discussions are key strengths.

Typically, the required knowledge is gained through education and experience in court processes, traffic enforcement, or prosecutions.
