Description

The Ministry of Highways is seeking a motivated Equipment Operator for the Lumsden Section within the Operation and Maintenance Division. They are looking for a dependable operator with a valid Class 1A licence who can work flexible hours and handle physically and mentally demanding conditions. The ideal candidate is adaptable, approachable, selfmotivated, and able to contribute positively to a team. Strong situational awareness, sound decisionmaking in all weather conditions, and the ability to work safely under pressure are essential.

Key knowledge and skills include operating, servicing, and maintaining heavy equipment such as tandem trucks, graders, and loaders; using advanced hydraulic controls for plow, wing, and sander operations; completing daily records and inspections; and performing general road and airport maintenance. Basic computer skills are required for email and time/expense submissions. Candidates must be prepared for heavy lifting, stressful situations, and changing work demands.

Responsibilities include ensuring public safety through surveillance and maintenance, supporting summer and winter operations, and maintaining a safe work environment.
