Description

The Ministry of Highways supports an integrated transportation system that drives economic growth and benefits Saskatchewan citizens. The Fleet Services Branch is offering an apprentice mechanic opportunity at the Moose Jaw Shop, providing dynamic and challenging work, competitive salary, comprehensive benefits and pension, vacation and earned days off, inclusive work environments, advancement opportunities, and flexible work arrangements including modified schedules.

They are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined individual who will work under the direction of the Shop Manager and alongside Journeyperson technicians. The ideal candidate will assist with mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on a wide range of highway construction and maintenance equipment. Work will take place in both shop and field settings, with some travel and occasional overnight stays. The role requires someone who can learn quickly, follow direction, work safely, and contribute to a team environment.

To qualify, candidates must hold a second, third or fourthyear apprentice certificate in Truck Transport, Heavy Duty or Agricultural Technician trades. Applicants who have completed mechanical preemployment training may also be considered. The position requires physical capability, problemsolving skills, and a strong interest in developing technical expertise in equipment maintenance.

The ministry values respect, integrity, service, excellence, innovation and teamwork, and preference may be given to qualified equity group members who selfdeclare.
