Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill a position for Labourer in the Environmental Services Branch Department of Operations.

The position will perform the following duties:
-    Operation of Class 5 vehicles
-    Perform various labouring duties
-    Operate a City vehicle for the purpose of transporting employees and equipment to work sites, as well to assist on multi-function trucks
-    Operate various small equipment related to City related to saws, grinders, pump and other various tool as required
-    Assist in training of other employees as required
-    Act as a steward in recycling and diversion efforts
-    Assist with spotting activities at the landfill and/or diversion areas, directing customers and employees on specific areas for unloading materials;
-    Follow and adhere to all aspects of the Landfill Operations Plan and when required the Landfill Emergency Response Plan
-    Responsible and accountable for knowing, understanding and abiding by City of Moose Jaw Safety Policy, applicable Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation as well as any other appropriate regulatory standards
-    Work in such a way as to not endanger themselves, fellow employees or the general public
-    Work weekends and shift work as required

The ideal candidate will have:
-    Physical ability to perform heavy manual labour
-    Ability to obtain certification for: WHMIS, First Aid & CPR
-    Ability to obtain Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) certification in Landfill Operations Basics, Landfill Fire Training & Waste Screening at Municipal Solid Waste Facilities
-    Ability to work in a harmonious manner with supervisors, co-workers and the general public
-    Able to pass written Level I Wastewater Collection and Level I Water Distribution exams
-    Able to obtain Class 3-A driver's license
