Job Description

HJR is currently seeking a Summer Engineering Student to join their team. The ideal candidate is looking to gain experience in road construction, is detailed orientated, and is self-motivated with the ability to work well in a team environment with a variety of personnel. The student will assist management in planning, implementation, and tracking of projects to ensure they are completed on time and on budget, taking care that proper resources are in place and available.

Qualifications

Working towards degree in Engineering, preferably Civil
General understanding of Quality Assurance/Quality Control as well as OH&S practices/requirements
Positive attitude and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
Must be available to travel and work on project sites throughout Saskatchewan
Valid Class 5 Driver's License

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure safety priorities by promoting the company safety program and effectively contributing to the company safety culture
Work with senior management and staff to effectively manage people and equipment
Communicate effectively with consultants, health & safety auditors and Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure staff as needed
Enter data into a spreadsheet and prepare reports
Review and analyze the project contracts and deliverables
Take part in bidding on projects
Prioritize operations and fulfill contract requirements
Maintain schedule, ensure cost effectiveness and track project to meet budget goals
Deliver resources to foreman and onsite crews
Provide quality control and quality assurance on a variety of projects including aggregate production, asphalt, and field density programs
Keep regular and accurate records and documentation
