Description

An employee in this temporary position will function as a Technical Assistant and will work with Approvals and Compliance Technologists in the Regional office. This position undertakes activities in support of various duties as it relates to Agricultural Water Management and regulatory compliance.

Duties and responsibilities may include (not limited to):

Field inspections and meetings relating to approved and unapproved drainage works:
Prepare for field activities, organizing, and maintaining equipment.
Assist in developing written and photographic documentation of the drainage works.
Assist with the collection and processing of in-field data utilizing GPS and UAV surveying technologies.
Assist Technologists in stakeholder engagement and interviews with clients.
Office work will consist of:
Assist in client inquiries, provide information pertaining to agricultural drainage and the Request for Assistance process.
Assist with the processing of photogrammetric and survey data.
Work alongside Technologists to ensure regulatory requirements are met, including capture and confirmation of drainage
attributes utilizing GIS based software, such as project boundary extents, wetland delineation, and drainage works identification.
Assess and verify legal land ownership and registered interests.
Assist with the calculation of basic hydraulic modelling.

Qualifications and Requirements:
The ideal candidates will be a current or recent graduate from a Water Resources Engineering Technology program or a similar discipline. This opportunity is available to students with training or experience in agricultural, environmental, or engineering studies.
