The Public Works Labourer reports to the superintendent of Public Works and is responsible for performing a variety of labouring activities and will be responsible for assisting the road maintenance crew, the sewer and water crew, sign repair, shop and yard maintenance and various other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Perform shop and yard maintenance, including housekeeping and organization of tools and materials; cleaning and servicing work areas; assisting with inventory, loading/unloading, and safe storage of equipment and supplies; and supporting basic facility upkeep such as minor repairs, grounds maintenance, and snow/ice control as assigned.
Dig ditches and trenches using shovels and other hand tools.
Assist with performing manual water and sewer repairs on City infrastructure.
Operate jackhammers and drills to break up pavement.
Load and unload trucks with supplies and equipment.
Assist equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment or trucks.
Assist in routine maintenance and repair of equipment.
Follows established procedures and ensures established performance safety standards are met.
Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 education or equivalent GED
Standard First Aid and CPR
H2S Alive
Confined Space Entry & Rescue
Possession and maintenance of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 licence
Asset: Class I Water Distribution and Class I Waste Water
