Duties and Responsibilities:
The Family Support Coordinator will work within the community to develop realistic strategic prevention plans recognizing the needs of the community. They will continually monitor and report on community concerns to ensure program objectives are aligned with identified needs, oversee all functions of the program including the provision of community-based education and referrals, the supervision and guidance of employees, and assisting with the creation of the annual budget. This Family Support Coordinator will regularly liaise with members of the community, various department leads, and other community-based organizations, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
Completion of an Indigenous Social Work degree or diploma, or related post
secondary education is preferred, or equivalent.
Three (3) years of experience working with children and families.
Knowledge and understanding regarding the terms and conditions for
prevention funding.
Ability to make decisions using sound judgment in difficult or ambiguous
situations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in supervisory role and build effective collaborative
relationships.
Exceptional conflict resolution, customer service and trouble shooting skills
while being sensitive, tactful, diplomatic, and professional at all times.
Ensure information confidentiality and the integrity of the programs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Knowledge of provincial and federal structures including legislation, policies and programs relevant to First Nations people.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of First Nations people, the cultures,
communities, service agencies and political structures.
Knowledge of Cree and Saulteaux culture and language is an asset.
Completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
A valid Saskatchewan Class Five (5) Drivers License.
