Duties and Responsibilities:
The Family Support Worker will be required to understand and assist the GGFNs families who may require supports and services to prevent children from going into care. They are responsible for planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the delivery of Prevention Program services in accordance with the Nations customs, traditions and culture. They will work with the community to provide a holistic and successful approach to preventative home and community based supports and service delivery that promotes healthy family lifestyles.
Skills and Qualifications:
Completion of an Indigenous Social Work or Childcare degree or diploma, or
related post-secondary education is preferred, or equivalent.
One (1) year of experience working with children and families with
demonstrated and practical knowledge of childcare and family dynamics.
Ability to respond to GGFN member and community inquiries while
maintaining a high-level of customer service.
Ability to investigate, assess, and identify risks and develop an action plan.
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills ability to maintain
accurate and current documentation relating to clients.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build effective collaborative relationships.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
In-depth knowledge and understanding of First Nations people, the cultures,
communities, service agencies and political structures.
Knowledge of Cree and Saulteaux culture and language is an asset.
Completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
A valid Saskatchewan Class Five (5) Drivers License and Abstract.
Must be willing to work flexible hours, which could include several evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of children and family availability and programming.
