Duties and Responsibilities:
The Family Support Youth Worker is responsible for providing individual and group sessions with the purpose of developing life skills, promoting healthy lifestyles, relationships, and personal well-being for youth within the community and will undertake the planning, development and implementation of these Prevention
Program services.
Conduct individual and group sessions while providing a safe, nurturing environment for youth.
Plan an ongoing series of youth Prevention Programs, to be offered at various times, including weekends, evenings and during school vacations, and work to prevent youth from going into care by offering services and supports with appeal.
Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the delivery of support
services to youth, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
Completion of secondary High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience working with children or youth is an asset.
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
Preference will be given to recruit one (1) male and one (1) female mentor.
Working knowledge of youth support programs, including planning,
implementation, and evaluation.
Previous community related experience would be beneficial.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build effective collaborative relationships.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Proven organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
Completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
A valid Saskatchewan Class Five (5) Drivers License.
This full-time position works irregular hours or from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a one (1) hour paid lunch break.
Must be willing to work flexible hours, which could include several weekends and mornings, to meet the needs of youth and family availability and programming.
