Description

We are looking for a motivated Public Works Summer Student to assist with various maintenance tasks in the community. This position involves ensuring all maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner. The role requires a focus on quality, safety, and cost control, under the direct supervision of the Director of Works.

The position is open to all qualified applicants and is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3003 Collective Agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities    
    Assist in cleaning and preparing work sites.
    Maintain organized and safe work areas with proper tools and equipment.
    Support senior staff with tasks such as, but not limited to; grass and tree trimming, cleaning facilities and vehicles, painting and garbage collection, street and road maintenance (pothole repair, crack filling, etc.)
    Perform safety checks and maintain inspection records.
    Assist with jobsite administration, timesheets, and daily logs.
    Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment.

Qualifications and Requirements:
    Some post-secondary education.
    One year of experience or mechanical aptitude.
    Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License.
    Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and standing for long periods.
    Dedication to safety practices and attention to detail.
