Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking a Planning & Development Co-op Student to support municipal planning and development initiatives by conducting policy research, assisting with development projects, engaging with stakeholders, providing front-counter assistance and contributing to bylaw and permit processing.

Some duties this position will perform are:
-    Respond to inquiries from residents, property owners, developers, business owners and real estate agents.
-    Read and interpret City bylaws related to zoning and land use planning, and navigate relevant acts and regulations.
-    Conduct research on internal and external planning documents.
-    Review the City's current Housing Incentives Policy.
-    Assist in drafting policy sections, infographics and developing public-facing informational materials.
-    Provide administrative support.

Qualified applicants will possess:
-    Enrolled in Urban Planning, Geography or related program.
-    Experience working in local government construction, project management and/or community organizations is an asset.
-    Familiar with Microsoft office suite, GIS related mapping products and the ability to adapt to other software.
-    Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
-    Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with the public and stakeholders.
-    Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans, drawings and agreements.
