Responsibilities:
-Supervise, direct, oversee and support work activities for Safety Technicians
-Support, mentor and coach Safety Technicians
-Direct, organize, update and oversee work activities with regards to the Fire Prevention and Emergency Response Program
o Fulfil the role of Incident Commander
o Lead training for the Emergency Response Team
-Have an active field presence to encourage worker participation in Safety Programs
-Support Operational Leaders and Teams with:
o Conventional Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Process Safety
o Priorities based on the hazard and risk registries
o Hazard identification, risk communication and risk analysis
o Authorization and permit to work systems
o Workplace inspections, audits and observations
o Non-conformance and incident investigation, classification, analysis and reporting
o Change Management
o Contractor Management
-Additional duties as required
Skills and Qualifications:
-Safety Certification or active pursuit of a certification is required (e.g., CRSP, CHSC, NEBOSH, etc.)
-Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety is preferred
-Post-secondary education in Emergency Response including emergency medical responder and fire fighting
-5 to 10 years of experience in an industrial or mining environment
-Experience/training in the following areas:
o Hazard analysis and risk assessment
o Root cause analysis
o Behavior based safety and human factors
o Industrial Hygiene
o Emergency Response
-Demonstrated ability to teach and speak publicly
-Proficiency using SAP, SharePoint, Microsoft Office
-Excellent computer skills in database management systems and spreadsheets.
Work Location & Schedule:
-McClean Lake site
-14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
-Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
